Johnny Meatballs On A Roll – On Location

The Meatball Cart rolled out of the garage this past Thanksgiving weekend and into the parking lot of the Ground Assault Paintball Park in Carlstadt. I told you we were not going into hibernation!

It actually felt more like the last weekend in May as opposed to the last weekend in November, as the sun was shining down on us with temps in the sixties. We were literally a touchdown throw away from Giants Stadium (sorry, MetLife Stadium) in the heart of the Meadowlands.

This gig came to fruition through Domenick, besides being our official merchandise designer (RevCon Printing), Dom is an avid paintballer. I guess that makes me a meatballer? Anyway, his paintball crew wanted to try Johnny's Meatballs, and we braved the flying paint pellets and set up in the swamps on Paterson Plank Road!

For those of you who may not know, paintball is a very intense sport. There are uniforms and equipment and a real desire to win. I saw this firsthand with all the guys (and gals) who came out to play. This Ground Assault park is some playground. The course is designed after the popular video game “Call of Duty.” Serious stuff!

We served up meatballs and hot dogs to the workers and the players, all who were very happy to see us there since the park does not have a food court at this time, and this game really builds up an appetite. Madonne, I don’t know if I’d be up for playing such a rough game…I think I’ll stick to bocce myself!!!

On Sunday, we were set up again, this time amongst all the tailgaters who were out in full force for the Jets-Bills game. The scent of barbecue grills filled the air, and the footballs were flying as families from the tri-state area (and a few folks from Buffalo) came to hang out in the parking lot, which, as I said is right around the corner from the Stadium. The facility also doubles as a parking lot for the Jets and Giants home games with a shuttle service available to take people to the game. The Jets pulled out a victory in a very exciting contest and many of the Gang Green supporters also supported Team Johnny Meatballs and purchased sandwiches.

It was certainly a different venue for Johnny Meatballs On A Roll, but it was a fun weekend and we may return again. As I said, we are not hibernating. So keep on checking back for all the comings and goings of the meatball wagon. There are lots of other things going on as I stated last week and I will be making some MAJOR announcements in the coming weeks!
