Johnny Meatballs DeCarlo (August 23, 2011)

As August ends, September will bring more meatball madness!

Tools

I "meat" and greet lots of semi to well-known celebrities, people who wanna be known as celebrities and just lots of different, entertaining characters in all my meatball adventures. A few recent ones are Uncle Floyd in Fort Lee and Style Network's Anthony Lombardi in Montclair at St. Donato's feast.

The past few Saturdays at Fort Lee's movies & music night were a real BALL - as I was hanging out with some real great people you've surely heard of. But first, lets go back to last Thursday...

A paisan named Nick "Stugotz" Curiale visited my meatball cart at St. Donato's with his kids at the beginning of the month...he was a friend from facebook and also a fan who followed my TV appearances. They enjoyed some meatballs and we exchanged numbers. Turns out Nick is a guest booker (and also a guest host) on The Carlucci Show - a radio program taped in Hasbrouck Heights at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting - which is where I was live on Thursday. It wasn't my first in-studio radio rodeo but it was one of the most fun and interesting interviews I've done in a long time. We talked food, family, sports, and some rather raunchy stuff you have to check out at TheCarlucciShow.com.

Now the Saturday prior to last in Fort Lee, I was there with Joe Arminio & "The Family," who put on an out-of-bounds Broadway style musical theatre performance. They are an amazingly talented group - if you have never seen them - go find where their next stop is right now! And then last Saturday in Fort Lee (need I remind you the town is birthplace of the motion picture industry) I had the pleasure of hanging out with two stars of the classic Woody Allen flick, "Broadway Danny Rose," who came out for the special screening of the film. The legendary Joe Franklin was on hand, an extremely nice guy who loved my meatballs (and had a sauce stain on his tie to prove it), as was the super down to earth and friendly Nick Apollo Forte. He too enjoyed some meatballs and hooked me up with a CD and a cigar before performing his hit song, "Agita." Or should I say Ahhh-Gee-Taah!

You may have heard of all the aforementioned, or you may not be familiar with any of them. The thing with people in "entertainment" - which I consider anyone who previously or presently was/is on TV, radio, the movies - heck, throw in internet fame now too, it's all about your audience. Few can garner Sinatra-like crossover mass appeal, one's claim to their fame is generally about that niche audience of loyal fans who follow each project - or tweet - that's coming up next. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I have some HUGE projects and announcements in the works come September, so you better stay tuned!

In the meantime, here's what's on tap for this weekend: This Thursday thru Sunday (Aug. 25-28), Johnny Meatballs On A Roll will be set up at St. Sebastian's 85th Anniversary Feast, an event that we are very honored and excited to be part of. It is held at Kaveny Field and Christopher Street in Montclair, NJ. This is a huge cultural and religious festival with authentic Italian food, novelty stands, 50/50 raffle, lots of kiddie rides and live musical entertainment every night...things are capped off on Sunday afternoon with the procession of the statue. There is no better place to come celebrate your heritage.

Please note, as the meatball cart will be in Montclair for St. Sebastian, we therefore will NOT be at our usual spots this week in Hasbrouck Heights, Englewood or Fort Lee...we will return to our regular schedule the following week.
