The Unification of Italy and American Independence

Philosophy and Law lay the foundation of two different State models: an international conference at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York.

In collaboration with the Guido Carli School of Government of LUISS in Rome. Intended as part of the official celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. The focus will be on the role played by Enlightenment and Risorgimento political thought on the development of constitutional doctrines and the models of State in Italy and America.

The panelists address the following questions: “Upon what philosophical and constitutional models were the United States and Italy founded?” “What brought about their respective unifications?” “What are the common traits and differences between their governmental models?”
