BELLISSIMA: Italy and High Fashion 1945-1968
NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale will present Bellissima: Italy and High Fashion 1945 – 1968. The exhibition, on view February 7 through June 5, 2016, explores the remarkable period of creativity in Italy that gave rise to Italian high fashion (alta moda) and was notable for extraordinary contributions in art, architecture, cinema, theater and photography. The exhibition traces the development of Italian high fashion and examines the crucial role Italy played in its international success.

The French poet Guy de Maupassant called Sicily “the land of oranges, of blooming ground, whose air in the spring is a fragrance,” An island with timeless appeal, where one becomes enchanted with its numerous cities: the capital Palermo, the charming Taormina, or the historic Ragusa Ibla. A region that over the years has received an influx of different cultures: Greek, Arabic, Norman, Spanish, and other civilizations of the Mediterranean. The popularity of Sicilian cooking makes it easy to experience its distinctive flavors in restaurants scattered across New York.
Italian Gem The Wonders Comes to the Big Screen
Alice Rohrwacher’s award winning film The Wonders is coming to New York. Her magical coming-of-age drama set in the Tuscan countryside that won the Grand Prix at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and that stars her sister, Alba Rohrwacher, will open in the city, at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas, on October 30th. A national release will follow.
