Herbert Grabe, fotografo e tour operator lontano dal turismo di massa, ha voluto raccontare il rapporto pastori/paesaggi attraverso una selezione di scatti realizzati nel corso di una trentennale frequentazione delle montagne abruzzesi attraverso la mostra – intitolata “Transumanza: Kultur und Natur der Schäferei in den Abruzzen” (Transumanza: cultura e natura della pastorizia in Abruzzo) che si tiene a Regensburg (l’antica Ratisbona) - dal 25 ottobre al 14 novembre 2015.
‘The Northern Question’ … is never a topic of southern-Italian American academic consideration; while untold English language volumes relentlessly pure forth about its sister obverse, “The Southern Question.” The phase “Southern Question” denotes issues about Italy south of Rome that are problematic for the northern Italians. Presumably southerners have no problem with their northern conquers and cultural hegemonist, ergo: No ‘Northern Question’ historiography.

In many ways exemplary of the first-generation success story, Sinatra is also a paradoxical figure for Italian Americans. He both confirmed and challenged the common stereotypes of Italian-Americans. He—along with others such as Fiorello LaGuardia and Jo DiMaggio—changed how Americans viewed Italians, permitting earlier Americans to see that Italian Americans could indeed become assimilated. On the other hand, his sometimes boorish behavior at the bar or casino reinforced some of the worst stereotypes.
The Italian American Writers Association will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in 2016. Since 1991, IAWA has given voice to writers through its literary series every second Saturday of the months. Readings begin with an Open Mic: IAWA-East is held even months at Sidewalk Café and IAWA-West continues at Cornelia Street Café on odd months.
