Gennaro della Volpe, better known as Raiz, has released "Uno," his second album as a soloist since he left the Neapolitan band Almamegretta. It's a return to form after its more pop predecessor, "WOP."
Raiz's new CD "Uno" finds the husky-voiced, soulful cantante returning to the sound he, and his former bandmates in the great Almamegretta, made famous. Dub, reggae, tammurriata and Neapolitan melody dominate, with Arab, Spanish and Brazilian flavors as well.
Follow the link to a great webcast of Raiz performing acoustic versions (with a guitarist and percussionist) of several tracks from "Uno." He also talks about his new songs, and about Naples and Spain, escabeche and scapece, Teresa De Sio, his friendship with the late DRad, and other things on his mind.
Ben tornato, Raiz, e buon lavoro!
