The Italian American Writers Association is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Since 1991, IAWA has given voice to writers through its literary series every 2nd Saturday of the month. WHO: Edited by Edvige Giunta [5] and Joseph Sciorra [6], Embroidered Stories [7] (University Press of Mississippi, 2014) is a collection of work that interprets Italian women’s needlework, a cultural touchstone as powerful as pasta and Neapolitan music. The collection is an interdisciplinary collection of creative work by 37 authors ranging from memoir, poetry and visula arts.

About the Editors: Edvige Giunta is professor of English at New Jersey City University. She is the author of Writing with an Accent: Contemporary Italian American Women Authors, and coeditor of The Milk of Almonds: Italian American Women Writers on Food and Culture, Italian American Writers on New Jersey, and Teaching Italian American Literature, Film, and Popular Culture. Joseph Sciorra is the associate director for Academic and Cultural Programs at the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, [8] Queens College. He is editor of the journal Italian American Review [9] and the book Italian Folk: Vernacular Culture in Italian-American Lives. Sciorra's recent work, Built with Faith: Italian American Imagination and Catholic Material Culture in New York City [10] (University of Tennessee Press, 2015). was recently awarded The Italian American Studies Association [11]'s 2016 Book Award.
