IAWA Presents Nancy Caronia and Edvige Giunta on Saturday, September 12, @ Cornelia St. Cafe

The Italian American Writers Association (iawa) presents two Italian American scholars -- Nancy Caronia and Edvige Giunta -- on Saturday, September 12 at Cornelia St. Café, 29 Cornelia St., Greenwich Village. Open Mic followed by features.

SCHOLARS ARE PEOPLE WITH STORIES TO TELL
Nancy Caronia and Edvige Giunta have recently collaborated on Personal Effects: Essays on Memoir, Teaching, and Culture in the Work of Louise DeSalvo. They are scholars, teachers, and writers themselves of memoir and creative non-fiction.


Nancy Caronia is a Lecturer in the Honors Program at University of Rhode Island [4], where she teaches contemporary literature, composition, and creative writing. Caronia's creative writing has most recently appeared in Animal [5],  New Delta Review [6],  Lowestoft Chronicles [7], biostories [8] , and The Missing Slate. Her scholarship appears in peer-reviewed journals, including  AEQ,  Italian American Review [9], [10] and Essays on Italian American Literature and Culture (Bordighera Press, 2012). She and Edvige Giunta co-edited Personal Effects: Essays on Memoir, Culture, and Teaching in the Work of Louise DeSalvo (Fordham University Press, 2015 [11]). Caronia  wrote the introduction for the recent reprint of Louise DeSalvo's Casting Off (Bordighera Press, [12] 2014). 
 
Edvige Giunta is Professor of English at New Jersey City University [13], where she teaches memoir and other literature and writing courses. She is the author of Writing with an Accent: Contemporary Italian American Women Authors and Dire l'indicibile. She has co-edited several anthologies including: The Milk of Almonds: Italian American Women Writers on Food and Culture with Louise DeSalvo; Italian American Writers on New Jersey with Maria Mazziotti Gillan and Jennifer Gillan; Teaching Italian American Literature, Film, and Popular Culture with Kathleen Zamboni McCormick; Embroidered Stories: Interpreting Women’s Domestic Needlework from the Italian Diaspora with Joseph Sciorra; and Personal Effects: Essays on Memoir, Culture, and Teaching in the Work of Louise DeSalvo (Fordham University Press) with Nancy Caronia.
