The Italian American Writers Association (IAWA) presented writers Marisa Frasca and Judith Vollmer on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street in New York City’s West Village, (212-989-9319); www.corneliastreetcafe.com.


Featured writer Marisa Frasca is a scholar, poet, writer and translator, illustrated her wide range of expression that took readers from a small village in Sicily, to the local town's new wine festival on San Martino's to a junior high school in Brooklyn, the New World. Award-winning writer and professor Judith Vollmer is founding editor of poetry journal 5 AM and author of five poetry books, including the most recent collection, The Water Books, from Autumn House Press, drew a dozen students from Drew's MFA program including Roberto Gonzalez and Mary Brancaccio among many others.

IAWA is embarked on an ambitious program to continue packing the house; drawing on support from former features and current members in an effort to expand its base from New York City and the East coast to a broader constituency throughout the U.S.

The reading takes place from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and kicks off with Open Mic readings of five minutes after which the featured writers take the stage.
