I said it before, my idol is Dean Martin, who was a jack-of-all-trades and a master at comedy, music, movies, TV and everything else he did. Besides striving to become a celebrity chef, my goal is to also conquer the world of entertainment in all various aspects—think of me as part Guy Fieri, part Tony Danza, combined with Pat Cooper…sprinkle in some Lou Monte, with the dance moves of a young Travolta and a style way cooler than any of them Jersey Shore guidos. Maybe bill myself as a lean, mean, meatball cookin’ charmingly ethnic cugine?

Now here’s a little comedic ditty I wrote, which is an ode to my favorite Italian-American foods…sang to the music of “The Tarantella.”

“I’m Making Meatballs Over Here”

I’m-a-gonna tell you this, come on ova, gimme a kiss

Time to sing a little song, that you don’t-a-wanta miss!

When I cook a meal for you, there’s something you must-a do

Have some fun, and dance a little, till the kitchen’s like a zoo!

Every Sunday’s when I make, yummy meatballs oh so nice

Make a gravy with braciole, and the garlic and the spice!

Hey…I’m making meatballs over here, over here

I’m making meatballs over here, over here!

Making meatballs, making meatballs, and I’m feeling very fine

Making meatballs, making meatballs, and I drink a little wine!

Hey!

Every day for you and you…and him and her, it’s something new

Chicken scampi, parmigian,’ maybe some pasta fazool!

Have a sausage and some peppers, and an antipasto plate

Capicol,’ some salami and some nice fresh grapes!

Mortadell’ and mozzarell,’ oh madonne it never ends

Manicott’ and strombolis, I make it all again and again!

But the things I love to make, they taste oh so very great

Chop the parsley and the basil, here we go for Heaven sakes!

Ohhhhh……I’m making meatballs over here, over here

I’m making meatballs over here, over here!

Making meatballs, making meatballs, and I’m feeling very fine

Making meatballs, making meatballs, and I drink a little wine!

Veal Marsala, calamar,’ some baked ziti and lasagna

Riceballs, artichokes, penne sauce made with vodka!

When you eat-a my-a pizza, you will never feel-a blue

Rollatini, pesto sauce, and some creamy alfredo, too!

If you still get hungry later, they’ll be some risotto left

Spicey mussels marinar’ grows some hair upon your chest!

But……I’m making meatballs over here, over here

I’m making meatballs over here, over here!

Making meatballs, making meatballs, and I’m feeling very fine

Making meatballs, making meatballs, and I drink a little wine!

Hey!

Don’t forget to come say hi to me and the great, Lorraine Ranalli, this Sunday at Corrado’s Market (201 Berdan Ave. in Wayne). She’ll be autographing copies of “Gravy Wars” and I’ll be handing out my signature meatballs! I may even sing…
