Pizzeria Starita was founded in Naples in 1901. Today, after four generations, it’s still thriving. The history of this ever- bustling pizzeria, beautifully narrated by Monica Piscitelli in the blog of acclaimed Neapolitan journalist Luciano Pignataro, describes its Neapolitan location, including its shrine to San Gennaro engraved with the date that the pizzeria first opened its doors in the working-class neighborhood of Materdei. Now Don Antonio Starita is in New York City too, partnering with Roberto Caporuscio of Kestè and his daughter Giorgia.

The Audubon Mural Project: A Creative Refuge for Endengered Birds

The streets of Harlem and Washington Heights come to life thanks to an ambitious public art project, the Audubon Mural Project, a collaboration between the Audubon Society and gallerist Elliot Avi Gitler. The project involves artists from the neighborhood as well as from all over the world, including a few Italians and Italian Americans, like Iena Cruz, Gaia and Hitnes.

Antonio Pietrangeli: A Retrospective explores the filmmaker’s career from the early 1950s to the mid-1960s. It features 11 films, from Pietrangeli’s best-known work to a number of rediscoveries. As a major father of the Commedia all'Italiana genre and a leading figure of Neorealism, Pietrangeli explored the ever changing role of women in Italian society after the fall of Fascism. They have to deal with a new freedom that is attractive yet at the same time ambiguous and somewhat dangerous.
