On June 10, 2010 the National Organization of Italian American Women celebrated its 30th Anniversary. Guests of honor were Lidia Bastianich and her family, "for being such an outstanding example of an Italian American family and for successfully promoting our heritage". For the occasion five young Italian-American women were awarded $5,000 NOIAW scholarships as a contribution and encouragement to pursue their studies

From His iPad to God's Ear: Italian Priest Bites the Apple

GADGETS.TMCNET.COM An Italian priest uses an iPad instead of a physical prayer book to celebrate Mass. Rev. Paolo Padrini, a consultant with the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Social Communications, starting next month will make the free application available in English, French, Spanish, Italian and, the perennial favorite, Latin. The application brings the book of daily prayers used by priests to the iPhone. At least 200,000 people have downloaded the application so far. (Read the Article)

MTV has pledged fewer Italian references on 'Jersey Shore'

REALITYWORLD.COM MTV has apparently agreed to take some of the Italian-American out of Jersey Shore.
  UNICO president Andre DiMino recently met with officials from MTV parent company Viacom Inc., which pledged to cut down on references to Italians, images of the Italian flag, and the use of terms such as "guido," The Associated Press reported Friday.(Read the Article by Christopher Rocchio)
