They left Carroll Gardens to live elsewhere — but their hearts will bring them back Friday night to the trendy nabe to keep an old immigrant tradition alive.

Hundreds of Catholics whose families emigrated to Carroll Gardens from Italy will gather at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church for a solemn candlight procession with pallbearers carrying statues of Jesus and the Virgin Mary on their shoulders.
