Per festeggiarne la designazione ricordiamo le parole e l’opera di due grandi uomini che alla Città dei Sassi hanno dato proprio tanto: Rocco Scotellaro e Carlo Levi.

Franco Fontana retrospective in Rome

A retrospective of leading Italian photographer Franco Fontana, 81, will be on show at Rome's Palazzo Incontro starting Wednesday through January 11. The exhibit will showcase 130 of the most significant photos by the Modena native, who describes himself as a "heretic".

The southern Italian city of Matera was picked Friday as European Culture Capital 2019.
    The Basilicata tourist mecca is famed for its UNESCO-listed 'Sassi' City of Stone that has formed the backdrop to several films including The Passion of the Christ.

The Art of Fotoromanzo on View at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimo

Io e Calliope, an exhibition by Ileana Florescu, consists of twelve works, each a double page of approximately twelve photographs with word balloons (some in Italian, others in English). Each work represents a fotoromanzo (literally a photo-novel) a popular magazine format born in Italy in the 1940's.
