Casa Italia in Stone Park, IL--- 5 miles from Chicago's Loop and 5 miles from O'Hare airport--- is a multi-faceted operation including exhibits, meeting rooms, banquet halls, sleeping rooms, festival grounds, club rooms and office space for the Fra Noi and Joint Civic Committee. Our focus here is the development of a Library of Italian American Culture and the preservation of primary resource material , before it's too late, in a digital archive.
On a shoe-string budget we aim to create a comprehensive collection of scholarly and popular materials on Italians in the United States and a digital archive devoted to the Italians in the Chicago area. We see this latter initiative as the only viable method for preserving Italian American culture---before it is lost forever.
I appeal to authors of books and articles about Italian American Culture and History to visit our website catalog at
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/ItalCulturalCenter to confirm that your ritings are well-represented in the library holdings. If you find they are not, I beg you to contribute copies of your books and articles to the Library by mailing them to my attention at 3800 Division St., Stone Park, IL 60165 I will be glad to pay postage and shipping at media mail rates.
With Sincere Thanks ---- Dominic Candeloro
