Description of Myself

Frank Viviano served as chief Asia correspondent, and later Paris bureau chief for the San Francisco Chronicle until 2002, when he began writing for National Geographic Magazine. Since 2007, he has written a regular column on foreign affairs for CBS News. In a career that spans three decades from 1977 to the present, Viviano covered wars and civil conflicts across the globe, the collapse of the Soviet bloc, Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism, U.S. immigration issues, the 1989 military crackdown at Tiananmen Square and across China, as well as the economic rise of East Asia. His articles have appeared in more than 200 newspapers and magazines in America, Europe and the Far East. He has also authored seven books, published in 14 countries worldwide.
