In New Job, Italy’s First Black Minister Confronts Culture of Casual Racism

 Cecile Kyenge, Italy's first black government minister, proposes a law that would give citizenship to the children of immigrants if they are born on Italian soil. Under the current legislation, Italian nationality is passed on most commonly by blood, meaning the grandchildren of an Italian who has never set foot in the country has more rights to citizenship than someone who was born in Rome to foreign parents.

Lamborghini turns 50: Automaker to tour Italy with a convoy of 350 supercars

 Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is about to turn 50, and what better way to celebrate than by touring Italy with a convoy of 350 Lamborghinis? Nearly 15,000 feet long and making over 190,000 horsepower, the procession will start in Milan later this week, and will include every model from the original 350 GT to the current V12 Aventador.

Italy's Paolini wins 3rd Giro stage to take lead

 Luca Paolini of Italy used a late solo attack to win the third stage of the Giro d'Italia on Monday and take the overall lead from compatriot Salvatore Puccio.Paolini, who rides for Katusha, broke away toward the end of the final descent to complete the 138-mile leg from Sorrento to Marina di Ascea in 5 hours, 43 minutes, 50 seconds.

With seven women, the 21-member cabinet of Premier Enrico Letta vaunts the largest number of women of any Italian government in history. Emma Bonino is Italy's only second female Foreign Minister. Anna Maria Cancellieri holds the delicate post of Justice Minister. Two were born outside of Italy: Minister for Integration Cecile Kyenge was born in the Congo while Josefa Idem, the new Minister for Equal Opportunities, Sports and Youth, was born in Germany and holds 38 medals from world sporting competitions including the Olympics.
