i-Italy receives and publishes an article by Chris Lambright, a 37-years old Italian-American and African-American man whose experience as mixed ethnicity kid in the 1980s had him struggle for acceptance from both sides. The article was inspired by the hurtful memories stirred up by the discriminatory treatment reserved to Mario Balotelli, the Italian soccer player, who was thrown bananas at by Croatian supporters during Euro 2012.

This year the birth of the Italian republic was celebrated, for twelve hours straight, in several events that welcomed Italians, Italian Americans and Americans alike. Among great art, music, theater, film design, food and wine guests honored the Italian Republic. The final surprise was a lighting show that illuminated the Consulate with the colors of our flag: white, red and green.

MILAN — Mario Balotelli’s agent says the Manchester City striker has "no intention" of returning to Italy.Reports this week say Serie A champions Juventus were considering a bid for Balotelli.However, in an interview with SportMediaset on Wednesday, Mino Raiola says the English Premier League champions do not want to sell Balotelli, and even if he did leave an Italian club would not be able to afford Balotelli because of "Italian football’s economic situation."

Soccer: Italy's Pirlo scares Germany

(ANSA) - Rome, June 27 - Italy may not have reached for the finals of Euro 2012 if it had not been for a piece of cheeky soccer ingenuity by playmaker Andrea Pirlo.
The Azzurri had dominated their quarter-final against England but failed to convert any of a multitude of chances and were staring at an unjust early exit after going 2-1 down in the penalty shoot-out after Riccardo Montolivo missed his effort.
