Sworn Virgin by Italian director Laura Bispuri won the 2015 Nora Ephron Prize at the 14th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival. The film tells the story of Mark, an Albanian man, who used to be a girl until she vowed chastity and to wear male clothing in order to live as a man in patriarchal northern Albanian society. Laura Bispuri answered some questions.

Italians Can Soon Walk on Water

For about two weeks in June 2016, wrap artist Christo will create floating walkways to wind around Italy’s Lake Iseo in the Lombardy region, connecting the mainland to and surrounding Italy’s largest land island, Monte Isola. Viewers can also walk around San Paolo Island and the mainland town of Sulzano. The bright yellow fabric used for the walkways will continue on the streets in two mainland towns.

Expo 2015: Showcasing Ideas, not Icons

Expo 2015 is an innovative showcase. Unlike World Fairs of the past, its focus is more ideas than icons. Past universal expositions left majestic architectural monuments: London’s Crystal Palace from 1851, Paris’s Eiffel Tower from 1889, and Rome’s EUR district, still magnificent even though war canceled that Expo in 1942.

From three years of separation before a fractured couple could face a judge, the Chamber of Deputies this week dropped the waiting period to just six months if consensual and one year if not. The vote was overwhelmingly in favor, 398 ayes versus only 28 nays.
