The Italian American Writers Association (IAWA) presents Italian journalist and U.N. correspondent, Stefano Vaccara and culture maven Roberto Ragone on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Cornelia St. Cafe, 29 Cornelia St., Greenwich Village, www.corneliastcafe.com. The reading takes place from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and kicks off with Open Mic readings of five minutes after which the featured writers take the stage.

Stefano Vaccara, Italian journalist, columnist and Editor in Chief of La VOCE di New York at USIT Media and United Nations Correspondent at Radio Radicale, will read from his latest book, Carlos Marcello: The Man Behind the JFK Assassination, which has been recently translated into English. While at America Oggi, Vaccara served as Executive Editor and as the United Nations Correspondent for the only daily Italian American newspaper in the U.S.

Roberto Ragone, is an entrepreneur and arts and culture advocate with 25 years’ experience. He served as Executive Director of New York City's Lower East Side Business Improvement District and has organized lectures and massive multimedia presentations and fundraising activities. He has also worked for the New York City Council and the New York City Mayor's Office executing strategies to increase the City's financial commitment to arts and culture.  For IAWA, Ragone will perform a dramatization of a speech from Congressman Vito Marcantonio, the seven-time elected Congressman who hailed from East Harlem, once the largest Italian community in the country.    

Event kicks off with Open Mic readings of five minutes.
