Gramsci, Cinema, Photography and Music

Laura E. Ruberto (March 1, 2008)
Casa del Cinema, Villa Borghese, Rome

Listening, watching, and thinking about culture as a political tool.

Tools

Yesterday, my email “IN” box, by and large full of the mundane, included an announcement of an event in honor of Giorgio Barratta’s new book about Gramsci and cultural studies (Antonio Gramsci in contrappunto. Dialoghi col presente); the program is set for Monday, March 3 at the Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese. (Check out the pdf of the flier attached below.)

It promises to bring together a number of folks (Dario Fo, Tina Modotti, Pasquale Scimeca & others) whose artistic work reminds us of some of the amazing ways culture can be used as a political tool.

If only they had completed that link between San Francisco's BART and the Linea A!
