IAWA Features Two Edgy Characters: Robert Agnoli and Thomas Fucaloro Sat., Nov. 14 at Cornelia St. Cafe
The Italian American Writers Association will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in 2016. Since 1991, IAWA has given voice to writers through its literary series every second Saturday of the months. Readings begin with an Open Mic: IAWA-East is held even months at Sidewalk Café and IAWA-West continues at Cornelia Street Café on odd months.
Robert Agnoli is an author and union organizer. Edge City: The Chronicles Of Bobby A: Un Italian’ In the USA is his first collection of poetry. Born in NYC and raised in North Jersey – Clifton, Garfield, Passaic, Paterson, Little Falls, Westfield - of immigrant parents he graduated from New York Military Academy, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Fordham University. Agnoli is on the Board of Directors of the Italian American Writers Association.
Thomas Fucaloro’s latest book of poetry, It Starts from the Belly and Blooms (three rooms press). He has been on three national slam teams and was the Inspired Word’s 2012 Grand Slam Champion. A co-founding editor of Great Weather for Media and NYSAI press, he is also a writing coordinator at the Harlem Children’s Zone. Fucaloro recently won a performance grant from the Staten Island Council of the Arts and the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs. He earned an MFA from the New School for Creative Writing.
