Linda Barry shares the science supporting the fact that reading comics will make you smarter. Recently after discovering my unique method of keeping a graphic journal a well respected Psychiatrist, who practices Cognitive Behavior Therapy at one of the leading hospitals in Los Angeles, CA, complemented it as being incredibly beneficial to improving psychological health and contributing to emotional well-being. I continue to graphic journal and encourage others to do so as well.
What makes us happy is always seen at first as a silly indulgence. I am glad that science always catches up and confirms what we intuitively knew all along: happy = healthy.
An entry from one of my old graphic journals. As you can see, you don't need a 'special' journal book or expensive pad. A discarded book will do. Ignore perfection = be brilliant. If you are interested in having fun learning how to get started and keep a graphic journal check out my class, "Cartooning: For Adults Only" in Los Angeles, CA.
